A veteran of over 30 films, radio, and TV appearances, Althea Vega has been in the Philippine film industry for over a decade.
Althea’s career began in her sophomore year of college. Initially performing in roles on various soap operas, Althea’s passion and talent for acting culminated in starring roles alongside matinee idols in feature films. Recognizing her acumen and breadth of talent, many directors and veteran actors chose to work with her on a wide range of creative projects.
She is also a Fitness Champion, having won the major title Ms. Gold's Gym Staff Philippines at the bodybuilding competition at the Gold’s Gym Bodycon in 2019 while working as a Personal Trainer. She also won the title of Ms. Great Bodies at the Slimmers World International bodybuilding competition in 2015 and was a finalist at the Fitness Universe in Miami, Florida, in 2016.
She represented Metro Manila, Philippines, at the 2023 Swimsuit USA International World Finals held in Iberostar Riviera Maya, Mexico, where she won the Director's Choice Award, which goes to the contestant who embodies the spirit of Swimsuit USA International. This individual is responsible and punctual, helps promote the sponsors, and always has a positive attitude.
The New York Glam honored her with the Global Artist Impact Award at the Philippine Consulate in New York City on February 10, 2023. This award recognizes the commitment, courage, contributions, and cooperation that enables artists to reach a global audience, encouraging others to do so and, in turn, raising the Philippine profile on the international stage.

Melody Amor Prado Cortez (a.k.a Althea Vega) was the third of five children of the late Police Officer Investigator Wilfredo Imperio Cortez and Businesswoman Teresita Prado Cortez. She grew up and finished elementary school in her hometown of Gonzaga North Central School in Cagayan Valley and high school at Gonzaga Comprehensive National High School. She took a Bachelor of Arts in Economics at the Cagayan State University before changing her course to a Bachelor of Arts Major in Mass Communication, where she graduated with her college degree at the University of Perpetual Help Rizal in Las Pinas City. Upon graduating college she became a part time writer for a radio drama aired in DZRH Manila Broadcasting Company.
With over a decade in the Philippine film industry, I’ve appeared in more than 30 films, TV shows, and radio programs, working alongside incredible talents and visionary directors. Some career highlights include starring in Metro Manila, which won the Audience Choice Award at the Sundance Film Festival under the World Dramatic category. and was nominated for Best Film (Not in the English Language) category at the 2014 BAFTA Awards. The 2013 film was also nominated and won for several other British Independent Film Awards.
